STAY AT A LIVING WESTERN VILLAGE SINCE 1849

Flying U Ranch isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a living piece of British Columbia’s frontier history. Established in 1849, the ranch has grown into a unique western village where every trail, cabin, and building tells part of a story that stretches back over 175 years.
What sets Flying U apart is that it isn’t a single lodge or cluster of rooms, it’s a collection of distinct areas, each with its own personality, rhythm, and connection to the land.
Five Distinct Areas, One Timeless Experience

East Side Cabins
Sunset Country Built in the 1920s, the East Side log cabins are known for their sweeping lake and meadow views. As the day winds down, this side of the ranch comes alive with warm evening light and unforgettable sunsets. It’s a natural gathering place for those who appreciate quiet evenings and big western skies.

Downtown Village
The Heart of the RanchStep into the centre of Flying U and you step back in time.
The downtown village is home to:
-
A recreation centre and theatre
-
A traditional blacksmith shop
-
A western saloon dating to the 1890s
-
An RCMP office and original-style jail
This is where stories are shared, activities begin, and the spirit of the old west is very much alive.

West Side Cabins
Morning LightDating back to the World War I era, the West Side cabins are perfectly positioned for early risers. Morning sun filters through the trees, making it an ideal spot for guests who like to start the day with a coffee on the porch before the ranch comes to life.

Lakeshore Drive
Private & Refined. Along the water’s edge, Lakeshore Drive offers five executive homes on private acreage;
-
The Cariboo
-
The Lakeside
-
The Gammie
-
The Wrangler
-
The Dorm
With direct access to the lake and added seclusion, this area blends the ranch experience with a more private, upscale retreat.

RV Park & Prospector's Park
RV Living, Ranch Style. This is perfect for those who prefer to bring their own home on wheels.
Prospector’s Park offers a quiet, scenic RV setting tucked into the landscape without missing out on everything the ranch has to offer.

The Original Barn
Where It All Began. At the centre of it all stands the historic barn, built in 1849 from local timber. It remains a working symbol of the ranch’s roots.
Solid, authentic, and unchanged in its purpose of bringing people, horses, and history together.
More Than a Stay
Flying U Ranch isn’t something you pass through, it’s something you become part of.
Whether you’re watching the sunset from an East Side porch, catching first light on the West Side, or walking the boardwalks of the village, you’re stepping into a place where the past is still very much present.
