EXPLORE THE RANCH
The Lodge & Dining
The Lodge has always been the heart of the Flying U Ranch.
In 2009, we built a brand new log lodge. The new building was built dedicated to preserve the ambiance of the original ranch. The logs were selected for size, and hand peeled to reflect the building practices of the past.
This beautiful building houses the kitchen, dining hall, and main family room. The covered porches beckon guests to sit down in the evening and sip coffee while gazing at Green Lake and listening to the sounds of the ranch. Like many guests before them, they may like to gather inside around the blazing fire to recount their day's adventures and plan new ones for the next.
The Longhorn Saloon
The real wild west lives here at The Longhorn Saloon.
This fully-licensed, authentic 1880's style saloon was designed by architect Nick Bawlf and built in 1989 using vintage gaslights and fans from the Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC.
The Longhorn Saloon features an 1890 Nickelodeon, Wurlitzer Jukebox, and plenty of western charm. Drop in to wash the dust down after a long day's ride, play a game of darts, or gather a group together for a round of poker. The Longhorn Saloon is reserved for the exclusive use of our guests.
The General Store & Office
Stop by the General Store to check-in at the Office and begin your stay at the Flying U.
Browse a stellar selection of cowboy hats, western wear, T-shirts, jewellery and souvenirs. One of our most popular items are our Flying U plaid jackets and button-ups!
The General Store is always open from 8:30am to 5pm for soft drinks, ice-cream and snacks.
The store provides free wireless internet access to the guests.
The Carriage House Games Room
We even have fun activities for you to enjoy indoors!
Billiards, darts, board games, group seating, electronic keyboard, and music system with microphone.
New games constantly being added.
Blackhorse Movie Theatre
Tucked into the heart of the ranch, just steps from the cabins and main lodge, the Black Horse Theatre is one of those unexpected Flying U touches that guests never forget.
Small, rustic, and completely charming, settle in after a long day in the saddle and catch a film on the big screen while the Cariboo night settles in outside.
The Dock on Green Lake
Green Lake is 14 kilometres of crystal-clear emerald water, set between two mountain ranges in the heart of the Cariboo, and the Flying U sits right on its shore.
Swim off the diving board, take a canoe out, paddleboard, sail, kayak, or just find a spot on the dock and let the afternoon drift by.
For those who want to fish, rainbow trout and kokanee are in the water and the dock is open early.
All waterfront equipment is provided and included in your stay. Just bring your swimsuit.
Prospector's Park
Prospector’s Park is a private 50-acre retreat nestled within the gated grounds of the historic Flying U Ranch. Blending open grass meadows with beautiful boreal forest, the park was lovingly created over seven years through the dedication and hard work of hundreds of volunteers.
With its stunning western exposure overlooking Spring Lake, Prospector’s Park has become the heart of many memorable weddings, gatherings, and special events. The park also welcomes large group camping experiences, including organizations such as Scouts Canada and other school programs, offering a unique setting where nature, western heritage, and community spirit come together.
Shower House & Sauna
After a long day on the trails, the ranch has you covered. The central shower house provides showers and toilets for all guests.
And right alongside it, a wood-burning sauna that fits up to 15 people, the perfect way to ease tired muscles and wind down before dinner.
Rustic never felt so good.
