We are located in a place filled with history, the original ranch dating back to 1849. The centerpiece known simply as" the barn" is one of the oldest buildings in western Canada where tradition and function intertwine. At the Flying U we not only celebrate the art of horseback riding, but we also honour the legacy of this ancient ranch. Every corner, every cabin, breathes history. The Ranch
Experience life as it was 100 years ago. The Flying U is a real western town with 44 log buildings and a main street where horses, roam free. There is a real blacksmith shop, a saloon that's right out of the 1800s, a theatre, a dining hall, a pool hall, an activities building, and the “Century Lodge” with its lounge area with a stone fireplace. You stay in cozy private log cabins with wood stoves, or in any one of our 5 lakeside executive homes.
The Riding
The Barn built in 1849 is the central point of our herd of 100 trained horses managed by a team of expert wranglers. We feature more than 100 kilometers of trails on 60,000 acres of aspen forests and meadows. We feature orientation and training rides, private rides, Gymkhana barrel racing,
The Setting: The Flying U is an all-inclusive lakeside resort built on the shores of a crystal clear Green Lake There are private back lakes, streams, meadows, and mountain vistas.
The Total Experience
Guests enjoy three delicious home-cooked meals served in our log dining hall. After a day in the saddle guests enjoy a campfire or a magical hayride. There is square dancing, line dancing and live entertainment, roping lessons, archery, fishing, horseshoes, frontier cowboy photo shoots and even a shuttle to the 18-hole golf course. Guests enjoy a private swimming dock, use of sailboats canoes, stand-up paddle boards, and more.
