She has since worked with Uruguayan Gauchos on giant cattle farms, developed her own personal training methods with Arab crosses on her family's property in Langley, BC and continued to study Equine Assisted Wellness principles and methods with the Higher Trails Ranch in Okotoks, AB. Combined with over a decade of hospitality and PR experience, Taylor truly believes in the power of horse-human connections and plans to use her unique breadth of experience to develop programs that reflect both the specific history and future of Flying U Ranch.
Theode Kasper - Property Manager
Theode was was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan, on one of Canada's first certified organic grain farms. It was there that he developed a lifelong love of horses and the great outdoors.
Theode had his first true 'cowboy' experience at Griffin Valley Ranch where he would help saddle 250 horses every morning. It was also here that Theode participated in his first 'roundup' of approximately 200 PMU mares in the foothills near Cochrane, AB.
Led by a passion for skiing, and winters in general, Theode, spent 4 winters in the Montafon Valley in Austria where he worked as a ski instructor for 3 years, while spending his summers at an estate in southern France, working with their world-class jumpers horses. Raven is an honours student at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), studying English Literature and Creative Writing. She is very happy to be spending the summer away from the city and back in the Cariboo where she grew up.
Raven was raised on a ranch just South of the village of Clinton, about 30 miles from the Flying U, and spent countless summer days at the family cabin on Green Lake. She has grown up working and playing with her animals, driving tractors, and hauling hay, so she is fitting in well with the rest of the staff on the ranch. Raven will be spending most of her time here working in the office, running the General Store, and serving in the Saloon. She looks forward to meeting many new faces and sharing her love of the Cariboo with all of our guests!

Bree Sommerville - Administration &
Bree is an Australian living and travelling around Canada on a working holiday visa. She is excited to spend some time working on a guest ranch and learning the ways of
a cowboy; and in exchange will lend her communications expertise to our administrative team.
Bree moved to Canada mainly to put herself out of her comfort zone, take on new challenges, and create some different experiences. She's excited to escape city life for a few months to enjoy the fresh country air, and to properly learn how to ride a horse.
Steve Harris - Lead Wrangler
Steve looks after our horses and lead our new trail rides! Steve has decades of horse experience specifically in tourism. He's led countless groups on rides ranging from hours to days all over the province of British Colombia. Originally from Prince George, BC, Steve could not have been happier to meet the Flying U herd. The only thing better than the horses? The guests! Steve will be on of our signature cowboys, and is confident he can coax out his same passion and enthusiasm for riding in even the most timid horsemen.
Victoria Gallant - Wrangler

We have him pegged to spearhead our overnight camping excursions, and set up the line camps to facilitate this initiative. Ryan is currently developing our outfitter experience. Included in this development is the installation of an authentic Flying U line camp, overnight riding and camping options, pack trip, and potential hunting expeditions and cattle drives.

Laura Davis - Head Chef
Dale Harris - First Cook
Laura and Dale relocated to the South Cariboo from Vancouver Island. They knew if they did not take this opportunity to relocate their family, they would regret it always. They wanted to teach their young children self sufficiency, including growing produce on a larger scale, and raising their own meat. Laura finds it ironic that after many summers spent enjoying Green Lake recreationally, she is how a significant part of it's history in her home at the Flying U kitchen. Both Laura and Dale's culinary experience began in Banff/ Lake Louise, and their resumes grew together from Alberta to southern BC, and now into the Cariboo. Their partnership has endured 20 odd years, and continues to thrive; they are happy now not only to share their land with their three children, but also their three mares, and all the deer, moose, coyotes, and grouse that call Green Lake Home.
Their cooking philosophy?
"It tastes better when you have cultivated it"
Kim Holland - Second Cook
Kim will be returning to the Flying U as second cook. She is "super excited to get back in that kitchen and do my thing"! Kim says her time at The U has not only been the best job she's had but some of the most positive experiences in general: the staff, the weddings, the kids that come every year, guests, the square dancing, riding: it's a big family that all work together. She is also looking forward to working with all the new staff and getting to know one another, and seeing faces old and new in what's shaping up to be the best season yet!
Sue is quickly becoming indispensable as our "Jill of all trades" around the ranch. A former veterinary assistant in Czech Republic, Sue decided to start a new adventure to live abroad to gain more experience, working on her English skills while sticking close to her passion of animal husbandry.
Even as a little girl Sue had a deep passion for horses and riding. She was also intrigued by the nature and culture of North America from an early age. Sue began her equine love affair by reading books about horses and, at the age of 10, helping with horses in a small family ranch close to her home. She never thought that both passions would come together in her dream to spend some time on a real Canadian ranch.
Sue is no stranger to the outdoors; well skilled in camping, rafting, canoeing, and archery as she spent years as a girl scout. Sue not only loves animals, but has enjoyed meeting all types of people during her time in Canada, and is excited for summer at The Flying U.
