“Right horse, right rider, no trouble. . . The horse handles the situation.”
- Anne Mayhew,
The Western Horseman
The Flying U Ranch invites you to enjoy long, unsupervised trail riding among hills and lakes. There is simply nothing like it. We have approximately 100 horses for you to get to know.
Guests are assigned a horse and tack suited to their riding ability. Explore trails meandering through meadows, forests, and groves of aspen. Ride out after breakfast and come back by noon for a hot meal, or let us pack you a lunch so you can ride all day and picnic beside one of the many small lakes that dot the area.
You can rest in the meadows and find a wealth of beautiful scenery. Discover moose, deer, eagles, coyotes and of course, ranch cattle and horses roaming over beautiful grasslands.
All new guests receive an orientation seminar which are held at 9am and 1pm daily. This covers safety procedures, GPS navigation for emergencies, contact information, and an overview of the ranch and our trails. At 9:30am or 1:30pm guests go down to the barn to get horse assignments. Then you will be taken on an orientation trail ride with our wranglers to see how you are adapting to your horse. After lunch you are free to explore the untamed wild expanse of the Flying U ranch unguided.
The earliest that guests who arrive in the morning are able to ride at is 1:30pm. Guests who arrive in the afternoon after 1pm will be unable to ride until the following morning after they receive the 9am orientation.
